It seems that I am running out of words. Or, anyway, I’m hoarding them for some future moment when they will burst out in a torrent of unintelligible noise.
By this, I mean that this week’s song is not a song at all, but another instrumental.
I have been working on some actual songs with words and structure, but these keep needing more tweaking. Perhaps I’m becoming too perfectionistic again. Or maybe life has just been getting too busy. Certainly, my mind feels cluttered; my thinking unclear.
Anyway, I’ve temporarily solved the problem by making another quiet instrumental track using my baritone guitar, bass, and various ambient pedals. Once again, the Slow Gear is the star of the show. I especially like how it works on the bass guitar, creating a swelling sound. I doubled this part across two octaves to make it more sonically prominent.
Anyway, perhaps next week, I’ll find some lyrics. Maybe my voice and words will return.
