a song a week borders on utter madness, just what Eno would want. i really like both the lyrics and the guitar line, they’re great. i wish i had written them. just for fun i looked at it like i was the producer and broke the lyrics into verses slightly different from you and sped them up with a faster rhythm part, leaving the guitar like at the same tempo, it seems to me that with everything you write, both music and lyrics are very solid and can be presented in many variations. really great James and i had fun with it! thank you

Thank you. Yeah, it's a challenge, for sure, but getting words of encouragement from the community keeps me on track with the project. I'm really interested to hear your reworked take on the song! There are certainly different ways to construct the lyrics. I tried out a few variations, and landed on this one. Some of the other painting titles were great, too, but I couldn't make them fit the rhyme scheme. I've already got a few ideas of how to develop the structure of this one. Really cool to hear that these sketches are sparking collaborative creativity in this community. Thanks again.

Love the warm timbre of the voice here — and the evocative lyrics, conjuring up mid-century America in all its urban stylishness. Great painting, too.

Thank you. It was an interesting experiment. Always good to delve into that period of American culture.

This is wonderful! I love the way you play with major and minor, it’s so subtle and beguiling, and the found lyrics are wonderful. Reading them as text I was intrigued to see how they’d fit, but once sung they sound effortless and natural, conjuring heady atmospheres and sense of place. Brilliant!

Insanely impressive and inspiring as always James. So many great songs and recordings, and I don't even leave comments about most of them. I should..

BTW I was reading Jeff Tweedy's new book "How to write one Song" last week after hearing him talk about it on Song Exploder. I think you'd really enjoy it. While the second half talks about his process of actual writing (tips and tricks), the first half really talks about living a creative life with discipline and structure. Seems like you are already. Congrats on 6 months of this project.

Thank you so much, Scott. Really appreciate your kind words. Yeah, I devoured How To Write One Song. Great book and one I’ve used many times already when I’m stuck with this project! Jeff Tweedy is def one of the good guys.
